Alief Alum Spotlight: Bobby Nguyen

What began in the halls of Taylor High School has now taken flight on a national stage for former Taylor High School NJROTC Cadet Bobby Nguyen.

Known for his discipline, leadership, and dedication during his time at Taylor High School, Nguyen stood out as a cadet who consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence. Those qualities helped shape the path that would eventually lead him to one of the nationโ€™s most prestigious military institutionsโ€”the United States Air Force Academy.

Today, Nguyen celebrates an extraordinary achievement after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

The milestone became even more meaningful in a powerful full-circle moment. Retired Navy Lieutenant and longtime Taylor High School NJROTC instructor Lieutenant Byron Conner had the distinct honor of administering Second Lieutenant Bobby Nguyenโ€™s Oath of Office while proudly representing Alief ISD.

For Lieutenant Conner, witnessing a former cadet reach such an important milestone was a proud reminder of the lasting impact mentorship and leadership programs can have on studentsโ€™ futures.

Second Lieutenant Nguyen is also on track to enter the United States Air Force pilot program, continuing his journey toward serving the nation from the skies.

His accomplishments reflect the values of perseverance, service, and leadership that are fostered within Alief ISD and the Taylor High School NJROTC program. Nguyenโ€™s story serves as an inspiration to current and future cadets, proving that dedication and hard work can open doors to incredible opportunities.

Congratulations, Second Lieutenant Bobby Nguyen! Your Taylor family and the entire Alief ISD community are proud of your accomplishments and excited to watch your future take flight.
